Vietnamese pheasant
- Description
- They measure 50-65 cm and weigh 0.8-1.1 kg. The female is brown, and the male has blue feathers.
- Habitat
- They are endemic to central Vietnam.
- Diet
- They feed mainly on plant food: shoots, berries, roots, seeds, leaves, flowers, bamboo shoots, occasionally they also eat insects or other invertebrates.
- Reproduction
- They lay between four and seven eggs, which they brood for 25 days.
- Lifespan
- 6-10 years

- Until recently, they were considered a subspecies of the Edwards’s pheasant, with which they are interchangeable in their first year of life. Male Vietnamese pheasants do not grow their typical white tail feathers until their second year of life.
